“We are all the same,” she wrote, “except that adults have found ways to buffer themselves against the full-blown intensity of a child’s emotions.” – Charlotte Zolotow

The first signed book I own was signed by Charlotte Zolotow. It was a gift from my mother who had seen her at an International Reading Association Conference in 1984. I had no inkling of becoming a librarian at the time. The book is Over and Over, and it is still on my shelf. I knew it was important. That books were important. And authors like Charlotte Zolotow … well, worth remembering and treasuring and reading and rereading.
